Insomnia in Tbilisi

It’s dawn in Tbilisi, where we arrived yesterday morning at 3:35 am.  We napped a bit on arrival and I’ve been awake ever since, awake in fact for the most of the past three days.

I was awake at midnight when the other residents of our guest house snuffed out their candles on the balcony outside our door and went to bed.

I was awake when the water inside the guest house stopped working at 1:30 am, and was relieved when I could once again flush the toilet at 4:30 am.

I was awake when the neighborhood dogs bayed, lonely, yet in unison at 4 am.

I was awake when a two new guests climbed the wooden stairs to check in, like we had, in the predawn hours.

I was awake when a pale blue light silhouetted the lacey wood of our balcony.

Now the sun is coming up to the sound of howling feral cats.  I can’t help but identify.

How we got to Tbilisi: flight from Chicago via Munich.

  1. Sending you sleepy thoughts, but not until the end of the day, after you’ve had strong morning coffee and looked at all kinds of amazing things.

    1. Thank you for the encouragement. I haven’t quite made it to sleeping like a log, but I’m doing much better.

  3. Sunrise is my favorite time of day. If I can be awake for that, I don’t mind the insomnia so much.
